Geophysical Consulting

As an exploration geophysicist with a background in geology, Dr. Rachel Newrick provides short term or part time help to international oil and gas companies.  Focusing on Atlantic Margins offshore Africa, South America and Canada, Rachel works primarily from the Crowsnest Pass but meets with clients in Calgary and abroad. Additionally, data room visits and training can be arranged.

Training courses include ‘Introduction to Seismic Interpretation’, ‘Advanced Seismic Interpretation’, ‘Introduction to Marine Interpretation’, ‘2D Seismic Interpretation’, and Alistair Brown’s ‘Introduction to 3D Seismic Interpretation’, taught when Alistair is unavailable. These are primarily available through RPS-Nautilus.

In 2004, Rachel co-authored SEG Monograph #13 ‘Fundamentals of Geophysical Interpretation’ with Dr. Larry Lines.

Rachel is a Professional Geologist and Professional Geophysicist (APEGA P.Geol and P.Geoph). She is an AAPG, EAGE, CSEG and SEG member and actively involved in the geoscience community. She sits on the Canadian Federation of Earth Sciences (CFES) Board as President Elect (2020-2021), President (2021-2022) and Past President (2022-2023), and is the District 5 (Canada) representative on the SEG Council (2018-2020 & 2020-2022). She was the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (CSEG) Vice President (2014-2015), President (2015-2016) and Past President (2016-2017) and now sits on the CSEG President’s Advisory Council.
